Thanksgiving Family Photos

She wanted to get a family photo this year. A real one, not the ones we had been doing around Christmas for a couple years now with all of us around the tiny doll Christmas tree in She's room. The setup was getting a little bland, wasn't it? This time it done in front of the humans' fireplace, with pumpkins surrounding for a special fall touch. (I've decided to post some of these photos on our Instragram account as well, but I just wanted to make this post, too, since I won't be doing a Thanksgiving post this year.)

"Okay, is everybody set?"
A few of the dolls shifted positions. We were already holding our smiles and looking forward to getting this done as soon as possible. Except for me. It had been my idea to do this, and since all the humans were gone except She, it was the perfect time to get a family photo on a real camera with a real background.
"Wow, you can be awfully still," She muttered and flashed the first photo. "Guess you have to be most of the time, right?"
"Yep," Anna agreed. "It comes in handy."

It took forever to get a decent position for everyone to stand. We wanted to do that thing that humans do- where they put the taller people in the back and have shorter people in the front or kneeling so that everybody's faces could be seen. But since we had many different species of dolls to work with, we organized our giant family by groups. The Frozen section was clustered off onto She's right, by the "Millionaire" striped pumpkin.

Miscellaneous dolls, those who weren't Avengers or Frozen related, went in the center of the photo. We only noticed later that the heights tapered down from Anna to Moana almost perfectly.

Finally, the Pocket-Sized Avengers got into formation on She's left. We have six Funkos now, so the Funky Warriors spread themselves around the setting for variation while the three newer ones, Bob Ross, Time, and David S. Pumpkins, stayed together.

"Looking good. I'm going to take a couple more, okay?" Said She.
"She? Why aren't you getting in the photo?" Bell asked.
"Me?" She was astounded. "But I'm not a doll."
"You're still part of this family."
"You really think so?"
Some other dolls spoke up, added to Bell's comments and nodding their hands.
"Then if I get in the shot, what should I do?"
David S. Pumpkins winked and gave a "thumbs up" to She.
"Well... okay...?" She brought over a tripod for the camera and placed her hand, thumbs up, on the pumpkin closest to the PSA. We smiled up at her. Part of this family, indeed. "Thanks, guys."

And that's how our first real family photo turned out. (Also, I've updated some features on the blog, mainly on the right hand sidebar. I've removed the "follow by email" and added my follower count, a search bar, and a profile description. What do you, my readers, think of this new setup?)

Giving thanks,
Queen Elsa
