A Celebratory Post

You're all probably getting very tired of me interrupting the 12 Days of Christmas posts. And I'm sorry for that. I'm working on post 10 right now, I swear. But I felt like this was a good time to take a break, especially considering the time of year that it is. November is a slow month for everyone. All you have to look forward is the upcoming holiday season and the first snowfall. (The first snow we had here actually happened last Saturday for us.) But as it turns out, this week has been a very busy week for us dolls in the Room She Lives In. And it's not just because it's Thanksgiving. But it's also the first anniversary of A Doll's Life for Me, and three finding days in a row. Loki's on the 22nd, Olaf's on the 23rd, and me on the 24th. We had discovered the humans tend to celebrate their finding days (or birthdays, as they call them) so we decided to do the same. Not that it makes much sense. You didn't find or birth yourself, so why would we celebrate you? Oh well, it's a fun idea and we dolls just love to pick up human culture. But we also knew that having three separate finding day celebrations would be tricky, so we voted to be patient and wait until Thanksgiving day when all three of us could combine our finding days into one bigger, yet easier, celebration. Plus, the humans would be gone all day since the early morning, leaving town to visit family. The whole setup was perfect, and we were all quite happy and excited, looking forward to November 26th. Except maybe not everything was perfect. I didn't much feel like writing, not when everything else was already going on around me, plus there were a few new dolls that I still needed to introduce once I caught up with my christmas posts. So I'll just give a brief overview of what we did, without giving much about the new dolls away, plus pictures and a delicious doll-sized food recipes. First, the recipe, this time with walk-through pictures between each step, unlike the time we made the Norway Club's Norwegian butter cookies.
P.S. This is She's thanksgiving dinner table! Isn't it a beauty! This picture pretty much sums up what thanksgiving should be. Warm colors, lots of good homecooked food, and more than one table setting. I found this picture on She's camera and decided to upload it here just to show you all and remind you what day it is. Personally, I'm thankful for the friends that I share a finding day with, and the friends that I do not, as well as She, my human, and all of you who read my blog.

Celebration Macaroni and Cheese
After a quick Google search using She's laptop, we found the perfect meal for all of us to share on a Thanksgiving/Finding Day/Blogaversary day. (This is the recipe that we made some alterations to: https://michigan.spoonuniversity.com/cook/real-mac-n-cheese-mug/) The best part is, you can cook it with a microwave. It's a comforting, traditional dish that most of your will know, something called Mac 'n' cheese. We cooked it in a mug so that it would be doll-sized, but still big enough for all of us to share. But it's a perfectly good sized amount for a single human with a craving for a good snack, regardless of how special the day is or not.
For the ingredients, you will need:
3/4 elbow macaroni noodles
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
1 small pat of butter
1/2 tablespoon or 2 teaspoons 1% milk
The first thing you need to do is pour the macaroni noodles and water into a mug of your choice, preferably a very tall one. But no matter how tall your mug is, the water is always going to bubble over and onto the microwave plate. So your best bet is to put a layer of paper towels into the microwave beforehand. We chose this pretty tall green eyeball mug, one of She's favorites, though I can't imagine why. The art style is very cool, but having all of those eyes stare at you while drinking tea or coffee? No thank you.

After both the noodles and the water are in the mug, go ahead and pop it in your microwave, then put it in for one minute. After the minute, check on your mug and stir the noodles around with a fork. Then, you'll want to microwave for three more minutes, checking on it and stirring every one minute interval. Around the 3 to 4 minute mark, that's when the water is going to start to evaporate and boil over in the mug. Don't worry, it's only water, so it won't make too much of a mess as long as there are no electrical problems going on. Then you might want to get help on that.

This is what the mixture will look like before you finish your four-minute microwave time.

After you are finished with the four minutes, you will be able to take your mug out of the microwave. The noodles will have absorbed the water that did not evaporate. So now they should look like the picture above. If you like your noodles a little more "al dente," microwave for 3 minutes at one minute intervals and use a 1/2 cup of water. After the noodles are done and all the water is gone, add pat of butter and the 2 teaspoons of milk, and finally, the cheese. You'll want to mix this with your fork very well, until the cheese melts from the heat and clumps up around the noodles.

Be sure to stir up well around the bottom, because that's where it's hardest to get the cheese.

And that's all you'll need to do! Doesn't it look delicious?

If you're a doll reading this, you can serve your mac 'n' cheese on tiny porcelain tea plates like we did, or if you're a human reading this, you can just eat it right out the mug with the fork you used to stir. But whether you're doll or human, celebrating or not, enjoy your Celebration Macaroni and Cheese!

Well, I'm sad to say that it's all I have to show for you. It's already kind of late in the day, and She might come home at any moment. Though I desperately I wished I could have done more. It is, after all, a very big day. Three finding days, one thanksgiving day, and a one-year blogaversary. But what else is a doll to do? I'm all out of ideas, and still trying to work on Christmas post ten. Maybe I'll make it up to you next year, because the same situation will happen all over again. She will leave to spend Thanksgiving with family in another town, Loki's, Olaf's and my finding days will all be celebrated on one day, and then it will be the blogaversary soon after. So, yes. That is my plan now. I will give you a better show next year, and this year you get... a man 'n' cheese recipe. Hooray? Well, at least, that's all I have for you right now. But at least now you have something to look forward to.

Thankful for today and every day,
